Dr. Nicol Turner Lee is a senior fellow at Brookings Institution Center for Technology Innovation in Washington, D.C., and serves as co-Editor in Chief of TechTank. Dr. Turner Lee is an expert on the intersection of race, wealth, and technology within the context of civic engagement, criminal justice, and economic development. Her recent co-authored paper on the subject of artificial intelligence (AI) and its consequences on marginalized communities has made her, not only a sought-out speaker in the U.S. and the world, but also a presence on various U.S. federal agency and civil society boards. Along with her paper, she authored her forthcoming book on the U.S. digital divide entitled, “Digitally Invisible: How the Internet is Creating the New Underclass.” A graduate of Colgate University and a doctoral alumnus of Northwestern University, Dr. Turner Lee’s research includes equitable access to technology and its power to create change in communities nationally and globally.
