Mrs. Allison Jean served in the Public Service of Saint Lucia for more than 30 years. Beginning as a secretary in 1985, she progressed through the ranks of public service to eventually become the chief executive officer of the National Utilities Regulatory Commission (NURC). Jean’s life became a testimony when she and her husband of 30 years, Bertrum, grieved over the death of their middle child Botham. He was tragically killed in his Dallas apartment by a police officer who mistakenly entered his apartment believing it to be hers. Since their trauma, Jean led her family with poise and strength through the ordeal, earning her the coveted “Lady of Grace Award” by Bishop T.D. Jakes and The Potter’s House of Dallas. She and her family have since been recognized with numerous awards and have taught us all to not let our tragedy offset our trajectory.
