A self-made media mogul, Nely Galán was the first Latina President of Entertainment for a U.S. television network (Telemundo), and is an Emmy Award-winning producer of over 700 episodes of television in English and Spanish which she produced through her multi-media company Galán Entertainment. Galán is also the founder of The Adelante Movement, which seeks to empower and train multicultural women economically and entrepreneurially. She is the New York Times bestselling author of SELF MADE, Becoming Empowered, Self-Reliant, and Rich in Every Way (2016, Random House), about the revolution in women’s entrepreneurship led by multicultural women in the U.S. and emerging women around the world. Galán just returned from a two year over 150 city book tour which included including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Gates Foundation, the Clinton Foundation, and the United Nations. Her book has been published in English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. She is also frequently cited for her work as a board member for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, which is the number one resource for Hispanic and Latino scholarship programs. In addition, Galán serves on the Coca-Cola Company Advisory Council; is an Emeritus member of The Smithsonian Board; and was featured in HBO’s The Latino List documentary and national museum show. Galán returned to school in her 40’s for her Masters and Doctorate in Psychology. She is the mother of an 18 year old son Lukas.
